DUCK DOWN
This figure shows one branch of many that come from each waterfowl down quill. In general, the larger branch fibers contribute loft and compressional resistance and the smaller fibrils define many micro-spaces of trapped air which contribute insulating performance.

PRIMALOFT
The fibers and air spaces in Primaloft are much like those of down in terms of size, number and distribution. The result is similar control of convective and radiant heat transfer, overall insulating performance that is equal to or better than that of down, and down-like hand and compressional characteristics.

PREMIUM, SYNTHETIC,
HIGH LOFT INSULATION
These fibers are the sole component in one premium, synthetic, high loft insulation and typify the fibers in most other high loft products. The relatively large fiber size and the resultant larger air spaces result in significantly lesser insulating value per unit weight than is realized with waterfowl down or Primaloft. |
