Cuautitlán is a municipality in the State of Mexico within the Greater Mexico City urban area that began as an urban center in the mid-14th century, though its general area had been settled long before that.

In Cuautitlán State of Mexico, you can see the great Atrial cross that rises in the center of Parque de la Cruz in front of the parish church of San Buenaventura. This was erected on August 25, 1555. Cuautitlán Izcalli is one of the municipalities with the largest number of patron saint festivities of Catholic worship in the region.

Cuautitlan is about 47 km (29 miles) from the Pyramid of the Sun, a large pyramid in the ancient city of Teotihuacán, Mexico, that was built about 100 CE and is one of the largest structures of its type in the Western Hemisphere. The pyramid rises 216 feet (66 metres) above ground level, and it measures approximately 720 by 760 feet (220 by 230 metres) at its base.
